Future Soldier texture WIP

Here's alittle update on the soldier. Started to texture his under armor piece. Tried to make it look like rubber, hope it reads. Some things i'm going to tweak tomorrow is giving it a slight bump, plus some reflection issues on a couple areas.

I have to say though I am getting more excited the more i work on him. This is an exciting first attempt at a cinematic character.

I thought i'd start up a new project based off of an existing concept. I wanted the concept to be loose to see how i could adapt to it and hone my modeling skills to better fit the concept.

Here's my progress so far. The highpoly is finished and now im moving onto the lowpoly. I should have it done soon as this is my spring break week coming up.

dammit

the shadows from the foliage seem to be affecting the wrong side of the geometry of the rocks...so it's creating this weird dark spot.

Here's my progress so far on my senior project. I'm doing a sci fi hanger bay that has been built into the side of a mountain. There's going to be an opening in the top for smaller drop ships to come in and drop off supplies to the soldiers.

Senior Project continued

I decided to start picking back up on my senior project now as much as i can before next quarter. I'm still trying to establish the ancient technology. I really like how this turned out, it's made of rock with some metal bits here and there. These are going to be really tall idols with bits of foliage hanging from them.

I wanted it to resemble the aliens that constructed them. The "HERO" prop on my senior project is going to be the entrance to the temple, which you can see in the older post.

Here's a small update on my Excavation site miniscene for GDC.

The only thing that is complete is the idol in the crates. The crates are just quick general textures, i'm going to give them some more detail and story later. The jeep is obviously just color right now, the tires are all i've worked on.

All I have left is the lantern and some barrells. I might also make some boxes of fruit or something, and the turntable to which the jeep and stuff sit on.

Finally finished the lowpoly and the unwrap. I baked this ambient occlusion and normal map.

Here they are applied to the lowpoly. There are alot of problems with it unfortunately, but luckily they're all fixable.

I'm sculpting the high frequency detail now on his skin, im going to rebake and be done with it!

So i have a feeling like i'm falling behind on my sculpting skills. So im going to try and start doing as many bust sculpts as i can.

Starting tomorrow i'm going to do a streetfighter bust.
Probably Zangief.

But i honestly need to start picking up the pace on my sculpts again. I need to start learning new things, like retopo in zbrush...and some good rendering techniques and all them goodies, just realy professionalize my skills.

I also need to pickup on a couple programs like body paint...maybe dable in some mudbox.

Just a nice lil' reminder for myself...i feel like if i write it, i'll show more initiative towards these things :)
